Brianna Karp entered the workforce at age ten, supporting her mother and sister throughout her teen years in Southern California. Although her young life was scarred by violence and abuse, Karp stayed focused on her dream of a steady job and a home of her own. But after the Great Recession hit and she lost her job, Karp moved into a thirty-foot travel trailer she inherited after her father’s suicide. Though she began her journey as a homeless person terrified and ashamed, she emerged as a humanist and a feminist and is the author of a memoir, The Girls' Guide to Homelessness.
